Courtney's Crunch Cookies

Ms. Courtney is a 76 year-old Milwaukee resident that has lived in her home  for almost 40 years. Although she is the oldest of 13, she does not have much family support nearby. She moved into this house in 1984 to take care of a friend and has lived in it ever since. In her free-time, Ms. Courtney likes to go camping or crochet blankets. She worked as a nurse aid for years and then transitioned into geriatric care.

After retiring, Ms. Courtney was in a serious car accident requiring back surgery. This made yard work, taking care of her pets, and navigating her home extremely difficult. She said if she were to work in the yard, she would not be able to move the following because of back pain.

Courtney was introduced to Revitalize Milwaukee by word of mouth. A friend recommended RM when she said she had trouble cutting her grass. During the process of getting her signed up for our chore services, it was apparent she was eligible for our Critical Repairs program. Ms. Courtney did not have railings on her porch causing her to fall just inches away from concrete. She also has a tub that was too high for her to step into. As part of our Corporate Service Day, RM with the help of Ehlers, Inc. we were able to install a tub cutout, railings, screen doors, and many for repairs all in one day. Ms. Courtney was overwhelmed with joy and says its time for her to get back to baking her famous crunch cookies for people.
