Revitalizing Mary Ann's Childhood Home

Mary Ann and her husband Rich live in Mary Ann’s childhood home in New Berlin. Mary Ann has many fond memories in that home, but both her and her husband are finding it difficult to maneuver as they grow older. Rich in particular has had a difficult time. He had open heart surgery that led to multiple complications, including being in a coma for months. He also contracted gangrene which led to seven of his toes being amputated and ensuing balance issues. Rich’s balance issues as well as the tolls aging has taken on both of them prevented them from lifting their legs high enough to get into their shower/tub.

To help them get around easier, we took out their old cast-iron tub that was built into the wall and installed a lower shower/tub so they can get in and out without issue. We also installed a new ADA toilet and vanity that helps make their bathroom more accessible. Mary Ann is grateful to be able to remain in her childhood home and noted that she would not have been able to get the necessary repairs without our services: “For people like us who are financially struggling, it would have been totally impossible to afford.”
