Homeowner Tip of the Week- 11/19
Replacing your furnace filter is an easy way to prevent costly repairs and ensure that you remain warm this winter. And it’s easier than you might think!
Step 1: Turn your thermostat off to prevent your furnace from turning on while you’re replacing the filter.
Step 2: Locate the filter on your furnace, either by checking the manual or looking near the blower.
Step 3: Determine the size of your filter, either by checking the manual or looking at the information on the filter that’s already in the furnace.
Step 4: Once you’ve purchased a replacement filter, remove the old one, noting the direction it’s facing (it should be facing towards the furnace fan).
Step 5: Insert the new filter in the same direction as the old one.
Step 6: Turn your thermostat back on.
Now you’re all set! Some furnace filters require monthly maintenance while others may require less. Check your manual or look online to see what yours requires.
