Allan is an 82 year old Army veteran who has lived in his home for 50 years. He lives alone and has no children. One day, he began feeling pain in his right foot but didn’t think much of it until he couldn’t take it anymore. He went to the doctor and was diagnosed with gangrene, forcing them to amputate the toes on his right foot. Not too long after, he began experiencing pain in his left foot and was once again diagnosed with gangrene. Those toes were amputated too. Allan had trouble learning to walk again without his toes and became unable to do basic things like balance well enough to get in his shower.

To get around this, Allan attached a hose to his faucet and sat on the edge of his tub to bathe. He has been doing this for the past 10 YEARS. On a recent trip to the VA, Allan heard of Revitalize Milwaukee and reached out to us. We transformed his entire bathroom to make it more accessible for him; he received a new ADA toilet, vanity, and a walk-in shower.
